Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-04-25
The short version: CPUVersus collects the minimum data needed to run a website. We do not sell your data, we do not use cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not build advertising profiles.
1. What we collect
- Server logs — your IP address, user agent, requested URL, and timestamp, kept for up to 30 days for abuse detection and operations.
- Privacy-friendly analytics — aggregate page views and referrers, with no cookies or persistent identifiers tied to you. We use a no-cookie analytics provider that does not track users across sites.
- Affiliate click events — when you click an affiliate link, the destination retailer (Amazon, Newegg, etc.) sets their own cookies per their privacy policy. We log the click event itself (anonymized) so we can reconcile commissions.
- Optional contact info — if you email us, we'll have your email address and the contents of your message.
2. What we don't collect
- We do not require accounts or logins.
- We do not store comparison-tool selections beyond your URL bar.
- We do not embed third-party trackers, ad networks, or social pixels.
3. Cookies
We use one cookie: cv_theme, set when you toggle dark/light mode, so your
preference persists across visits. It is a first-party preference cookie and is not tracked.
4. Affiliate disclosures
CPUVersus participates in affiliate programs. When you click a "Buy" link and complete a
purchase, the retailer pays us a commission at no cost to you. Affiliate links carry
rel="sponsored nofollow". See /affiliate-disclosure
for the full breakdown.
5. Data sharing
We do not share, sell, or rent personal data to third parties. We use the following processors:
- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, DDoS protection
- Neon — Postgres database (no user PII stored)
- Affiliate networks — Amazon Associates, Rakuten (Newegg)
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and similar laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we don't collect identifying data without your action, this typically applies only to email correspondence. Email us to exercise these rights.
7. Children
CPUVersus is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes
Material changes to this policy are announced on this page with the updated date above. We do not maintain a separate notification list.
